In a remarkable initiative to foster global literacy, Ayaan Raza, in his pivotal role as Executive Director of Community Outreach and Volunteer Relationship with the Maryam Library Foundation (MLF), has spearheaded a impactful partnership with the Campbell Union School District (CUSD). This collaboration focuses on collecting books to establish libraries in underserved communities around the world, giving new life to thousands of books and expanding access to learning.
This was featured in CUSD news at Campbell Union School District News.
Over the past two years, this partnership has seen CUSD donate over 13,000 books, including obsolete textbooks, leveled literacy intervention books, and discarded library novels. These valuable resources have been sent to communities in Kenya (3,200 books), Tanzania (over 5,000 books), and Uganda (another 5,000 books are destined for this country). Ayaan Raza has been instrumental in collecting these books directly from CUSD's schools and warehouse.
This commendable effort aligns with CUSD's commitment to education and its core value of being community builders, as highlighted by Superintendent Dr. Shelly Viramontez.
Key Collaborators in the Book Collection Drive:
Ayaan Raza's efforts were significantly supported by dedicated individuals within CUSD and its schools:
