Making a difference
Dhyan Shetty is a junior at Dougherty Valley High School, where he balances academics with music, service, and leadership.
For the past decade he has dedicated himself to the tabla, a pursuit that has taught him discipline, rhythm, and the value of practice. His commitment to service is just as strong.
At the East Bay SPCA, Dhyan helps care for animals, ensuring their well-being and showing kindness in action. His work there has strengthened his sense of responsibility and compassion for those who cannot speak for themselves.
Through Boy Scouts, Dhyan has built leadership and resilience. As a Troop Guide, he mentors younger scouts, helping them learn new skills and grow in confidence. Whether teaching, leading outings, or supporting service projects, he values teamwork and the responsibility of setting a positive example.
Dhyan also works at Kumon, where he helps students tackle academic challenges and build confidence step by step. His ability to balance work, volunteering, and personal growth reflects his determination and focus.
Across everything he does, from music to mentoring to service, Dhyan carries a steady rhythm rooted in dedication, compassion, and the drive to make a positive impact.
Looking ahead, Dhyan is eager to contribute to the Maryam Library Foundation. He has seen how access to books can spark imagination and opportunity, and he wants to help extend that gift to children in underserved communities. For him, books are more than pages; they are doorways to possibility, and he hopes to play a role in opening those doors for others.
