One of my earliest memories is going to the library for the first time. Walking through those big glass doors, holding my mothers’s hand, it all felt so surreal. The shelves seemed so large back then, like it was wall to wall books. I’d wander off to the children’s section and lose track of time flipping through all the fun picture books. Even now, that feeling of excitement and suspense of what I’ll read next stays with me.
Libraries are packed with more than just books—they’re filled with ideas, creativity, and a sense of wonder. Whether it’s a chapter book, a cookbook, or a graphic novel, every item on the shelf holds something new to learn. People gather there to study, to write, to research, and to daydream. It’s a space where you can be alone with your thoughts but still feel part of something bigger. Libraries offer a chance to slow down and think deeply.
They’re also way more fun than a lot of current things people do such as watch TV. There are hidden corners with old mysteries, quirky books you’d never find anywhere else, and tons of new adventures to go through. For kids especially, it can feel like a playground. There’s always something new to discover, even in the same place you already are in. That sense of surprise and wonder never really goes away, no matter how old you get.
That’s why it’s so important to make sure everyone has reliable access to an experience like that. Not just access to books, but to a space where imagination is encouraged and learning feels exciting. Everyone deserves to feel welcome in a place like that, no matter what they’re doing or what they’re looking for. Libraries shouldn’t be a luxury—they should be a given right. Spreading that gift can make a real difference in people’s lives.
This is the purpose of Maryam Library Foundation. We are here to give that experience to children who don’t have access to experience it. We provide the books by partnering with various charity organizations, help build these libraries for those people who need them. Books are like a valuable ore, and libraries are the motherlode.
