Making a difference

Sophie Qi

Sophie Qi is a sophomore at Los Gatos High School and a volunteer at the Maryam Library Foundation. Her passion for volunteering was sparked during the COVID-19 pandemic, when she witnessed the many challenges faced by families in her community. As she sat at home watching documentaries, she realized how fortunate she was and felt a strong desire to give back.

Sophie has been volunteering since 8th grade, and she has worked with a variety of organizations. She is motivated by a deep sense of empathy and a belief that everyone has the potential to make a difference. Through her volunteer work, Sophie hopes to make a positive impact on the lives of others.

In her free time, Sophie enjoys reading. She loves all kinds of books, from non-fiction to comic books. Libraries have always been a big part of her life, and she believes that they are essential spaces for learning and growth.

Sophie's love of books and her commitment to volunteering are perfectly aligned with the mission of the Maryam Library Foundation. The foundation is dedicated to building libraries in underserved communities around the world. By providing access to books and other educational resources, the foundation helps to empower children and adults to reach their full potential.

Sophie is proud to be a part of the Maryam Library Foundation team. She is excited to help the foundation achieve its goals and to share her love of books with children in other countries.

Sophie's expects to have significant impact to the foundation. She plans to organize fundraisers, sort books, and pack shipments for libraries overseas. She has is also a member of the foundation's social media team, helping to spread the word about the foundation's work.

Sophie's dedication to volunteering is an inspiration to others. Through her work with the Maryam Library Foundation, Sophie is helping to create a more literate and equitable world.
