Making a difference
Aadil is a freshman at Bridges Academy Online High School. He is interested in science, humanities, and philosophy. When he was ten years old, he turned vegetarian because he cares a lot about animals. He feels they should have the same right to live as humans. He believes that our current economic system is bad and is going to force humanity to destroy the planet. In his school, he is working on a project to create an alternative economic system to capitalism. In his economic system, the allocation of resources including ones needed to survive like energy, food, water, and housing would be decided in a direct democratic manner and not by markets. So he is researching Political Philosophy and Political Economy.
Outside of school, he loves to play piano, violin, and drums. He started learning piano at age 5. He can feel the emotion in music very deeply. In his spare time, he loves to read. He always carries one or more books with him everywhere. Books are some of his best friends, hence he decided to get involved in this project.
He thinks that all people should have access to books no matter how rich or poor they are.
He is also passionate about neurodiversity and disability justice. He believes that people who think quite differently from the statistical norm like autistic people should not be stigmatized. He dreams of a world where injustice does not exist, everyone has equal opportunities, where nations are not enemies with each other, and where collaboration replaces competition.
